KinokoFry #104 – A Stormy Night
Chickens are the loveliest company.
This comic is now available as a beautiful limited edition print!
As usual, on thick, card-like 100% recycled stock. Each one comes hand stamped, individually numbered and signed with a unique little doodle.
A quick note that I’m going to be at in Newcastle again this year. There’ll be more info coming up, but I can tell you that I’ll be doing some workshops, talking shop and also hosting some really fun comic activities. Very excited about it!

Another splendid piece of work, Ms. Clements. Other comics may be able to make one laugh, but only yours does so while simultaneously making the reader feel so very good on the inside.
Ah, that’s convenient, someone with the same name as me has already left a comment that I agree with. Saves me from having to make my own comment.
“Chickens are the loveliest company”?
I take it you don’t read ? ;)
This is so super cute/awesome/wonderful. I love it :)
Hi Rebecca,
I just came across your awesome drawings today. What a great find. Your comic certainly made my day. I love today’s comic. Is there any plan to make it a print?
I so gonna get the bundle print now.
If enough people express interest, I could probably make a nice print out of it.
And thankyou! So happy to have made a day.
Just letting you know, the Stormy Night limited edition print is available now:
I’m off to the store now. Thank you! :D
Wow, that was clever and adorable and lotsa other things and thank you. You restore my faith in creativity every time!
Yay! Great comic! :] Why did you name your comic KinokoFry?
Someone asked me on Formspring awhile ago which you can read here.
But to make it easier, here’s what I wrote:
It’s a long and uninteresting story!
When I decided to make a webcomic, I had no plan. I had hardly done more than 5 comics previously. So creating a webcomic was just some motivation to make some comics, and I had to come up with a name for the website.
My internet nickname at the time was “Kinoko”. “Kinoko” is Japanese for “mushroom”, which was a food, a plant and a word I liked okay, as well as having a fondness for ‘k’ words, for no reason whatsoever. But I wanted a word that wouldn’t already exist EVERYWHERE on the internet, so I could call it my own.
A few years back, I had joined a forum Patrick Alexander created for chickennation.com, which required both a first and last name. So I added “Fry”, because “Kinoko Fry ” made no actual sense, but could be read in a number of different ways. I suppose I also liked Futurama and Stephen Fry.
It seemed like a good name.
The fact that I eventually started drawing mushroom characters has absolutely no relation to the name, but it works out pretty nicely, I guess!
So yeah.
Super cute! I posted it on my blog at with your website linked back. Let me know if you want me to take it down.
Nah, that’s cool.
This is easily my favorite kinokofry so far! How adorable! ^^ I second the motion for a print of it. ;-)
Motion thirded!
:)
I just got it in the mail today. It looks lovely! Thank you! :)
PHOTOSHOPPED!
Where do those birdies live? I’d like to have supper with them sometime.
Please make this into something wearable, so that everyone can see it as I parade around the proverbial town square declaring my adoration for it!
