Diary #052 – Took A Break
Perhaps I’ll go into this in a bit more detail sometime, but for now, just know that I absolutely made the very best decision for many, many reasons. Things are back on track for me, and heading in forward directions. I appreciate anyone who is still persistantly checking for comics here! I’m not leaving. But a break was/is necessary. Trust me.
Some things:
Ben Hutchings has started Australia’s first open cartooning studio, Squishface Studios! This is landmark. This could not be a better thing created by a better person. This is history in the making.
Also, I’ve been meaning to brag since Inherent Vice finished about the greatest photos ever taken of a rag-tag bunch of cocky cartoonists. We officially became super heroes on this day, and incredible and very lovely photographer, Kasper Voogt is to blame. We could not have been thrilleder, I am quite sure.
See you soon, guys.

Do what you need to – just know that your work is a pure delight to many. Glad to see you back!
Woooh, it’s good to have you back !
Welp, this is my plot twist for the day. GAMBATE REBECCA-CHAN.
Oh! So good to see you back! You just take all the time you need to un-hate comics again, and I promise to enjoy everything you’ve put out.
I am in awe of your decision (and maybe the slightest bit jealous ^.-). Enjoy life, Becca-chan!
If you can find the time, try to keep us posted on your new adventures. (Doesn’t necessarily have to be in comic form.)
Rebecca is right. And in addition …
… the Inherent Vice artists ARE actual Superheroes. Their power is the ability to work with your mind in a way that it triggers beautiful brilliant ideas. Inspiration, if you like. All with their creativeness.
That’s a supernatural power that has never been touched on by the creators of the boring blockbuster Superheroes as Batman (“look at me … I can fly with my wings”), Spiderman (“look at me … I can fly with my webs”) and Superman (“look at me … I can fly without my hands”).
Every character -Michael Hawkins, Ben Hutchings, Rebecca Clements, Simon Hanselmann, Mandy Ord, Michael Fikaris, Pat Grant and Sarah Howell- is unique. And I am thankful for them providing me the opportunity to capture their magnificent, marvelous and mesmerising personalities.
They are THE shit!
K
PS: It’s a sad thing that one Superhero flew off to Japan though …
What a change! And I love the way you shrug off the “Oh well” feeling, hahahahaha. XD Hopefully we’ll see more of you in the future, but for now I guess you should just enjoy life (though you don’t need anyone to tell you that :x).
Hmmmmmmm I really should’ve asked Rebecca to sign something for me at Inherent Vice. The distance between Melbourne and Japan makes fan worship more difficult :P
