Diary #029 – Rebecca in the Big City
It’s true! I’ve been experiencing Melbourne CBD life and it’s been stunning for my productivity. This is my version of “going to a cabin in the woods to write without distraction” only there are people everywhere and lots of coffee, and garbage trucks and Krishnas wandering about making noise at all times of the night.
I’ve done and am continuing to do a tonne of comics and reading, as well as had some adventures which you’ll hear about soon.
I’m also having to update from public internet places like Federation Square a lot, as I am now. Right now, as I type, about 10 cms away from my feet is a tiny brown finch eating crumbs. Seagulls gawk about and the church bells are just ringing and ringing and ringing and ringi- seriously, the hell? They’ve been going for what feels like half an hour now. Lovely, though.
One of the seagulls is putting on a play for some of the people here. Looks like he’s doing a very dramatic version of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”. Very moving. *sniff*
This moment-by-moment commentary on my life will have to cease for the time being though as I get back to more comics.
How are you guys doing though? Good?

i would just like to say that sheep in the big city was one of the best shows that i watched when i was a kid.
baaaa-a-a-a
I always remembered it being pretty exceptional, and when I was older and found out it was created by Mo Willems… aha! So that was why. Great show.
I wrote my thesis about ethics of philosophy of ecology mainly because I’ve got inspired by Fukuoka’s One Straw Revolution. I recommend it to understand the meaning of zen in our relationship with the nature.
I’ve been reading it the last couple of days, it really is full of some really amazing ideas. I’ve been so into it, I’ve been making notes.
sheep in the big city!!!!!
one of the best shows they had, and so saddly short lived.
I’m loving the girl looking back at you eating the bun, keep up the good work!
I’m good thanks, finished my coursework essay about sustainable agro ecosystems, pretty much how we have to all pull together and reduce our population or things are going to go very bad. I made sure to put lots of posistive solutions in too though. :)
Incredibly adorable.
I love how you wrote your name with your heads! So clever and adorable!
Sheep in the Big City is so awesome.
The first time I read the bookshelf, I thought the last one was Dorian Gary.
Now I really want to read a book about Dorian Gary.
I really want to read this book too.
Or Dorian’s Grey.
It is so much fun being in the CBD. My old job was in Fitzroy, and I guess it’s also a magical place but my new job in the CBD is filled with great coffee, food, public spaces, bookstores etc
I spy a little book titled No Logo. Hope you got a chance to read it, because its wonderful. :)
