Guest Strip – Ryan Pequin

Ryan Pequin held a mirror up to my characters and this is what they all saw. Well, a camera. They all saw it later when the picture was developed. It doesn’t matter really, we all find this same thing out sooner or later.

Ryan is one of those “men of many talents” you keep hearing about. The stories are true!

I first came across him when I read his beautiful story, The Walk. I was impressed by his genuinely touching story (that phrase can be such a put-off but I don’t use it unless I mean it) told so simply and honestly, and his clean and simple use of blacks and whites.

I was impressed and it stuck with me. It was one of those rare stories that show the author has a genuine understanding of people and I believe that Ryan must spend a lot of his life observing others.  He’s probably understanding and tolerant too. And handsome.

The Walk was just a gateway drug into discovering that Ryan has all sorts of talents that make me jealous. His photography, his incredible sketches (see? he observes people all the freaking time!) and what has been impressing the socks off of me particularly lately is his stunning journey into watercolour painting.

I have never liked a painting of a bull until Ryan did one.

On top o’ dat, he makes me lmao.

I follow him on Livejournal and Twitter personally so I can get my dose of Ryan as soon as it hits the streets. It’s the good shit.

Thankyou, Ryan Pequin!
